It has been just under ten years since I started my journey as a photographer. If you would have told me then I would be the owner of a photography business back then I would never have believed it. In times like this it is hard not to feel nostalgic and look back exactly how I got here. And feel it’d be cool to make my first blog post to tell you how exactly I got here
It’s funny to think this entire journey started with a single request from a friend to take a photo of a panda in the San Diego Zoo. In that moment of trying to take a picture I realized this was something I truly loved and wanted to see how much I can learn. After starting High School, I got the opportunity to be a yearbook photographer for the next four years. This while tedious learning gave me the tools I needed to learn how to create photos. After graduating I got the privilege to take a few photo courses at New Mexico State University Alamogordo taught by Sara Irving, while not ever getting to take an in-person class it was here where I learned how to control my camera rather than pointing and shooting with preset modes. After Transferring to New Mexico State Main Campus, I took my first art photo class with Monica Martinez, this class gave me the confidence needed to show my work and take risks and think about the concept of the photo. It was thanks to this confidence that I went on to take two workshops through National Geographic, one in Santa Fe taught by Amy Toensing and Carlen Tapp and the other in Austin Texas taught by Michael O’Brien. During This time, I took a photo class at the journalism department at NMSU taught by Bruce Berman. This class and the passion the teacher had gave me a love for telling stories through my photos. Wes Kline was my last official photography teacher at NMSU. His classes really helped me find my voice as a photographer as well as pushing my methods and learning a wide Varity of image capturing tools.
I would like to thank these people as well as everyone else who cheered me on and helped me along the way. My parents especially for always supporting me I would like to thank. As well My many, many friends I have made in the photography classes all of you guys have pushed me to get better and learn more and make me a better person as a whole. Lastly, I would like to thank everyone who has followed me online and has viewed my work. Well now this is out of the way, let’s go makes some photos!
